RAM School Event - Audio System Calibration with Manny LaCarrubba Nov.18, 2023, Orinda,CA
This presentation will be hosted by Manny LaCarrubba who will review the basics of loudspeaker design, room acoustics, and
loudspeaker-room interactions. Manny will then dive a little deeper into acoustical
measurements and audio system calibration. He’ll then demonstrate the measurement process
and how he goes about calibrating audio systems.
Manny LaCarrubba has a B.S. in Tonmeister Studies from the State University of New York at Fredonia. This is an interdisciplinary degree blending music, acoustics, electronics, and the recording arts. Manny started his career as a recording engineer primarily working at the Plant Studios in Sausalito, CA. He transitioned into the role of chief engineer of the facility overseeing all aspects of the studios; maintenance as well as overseeing much of the renovation and updating of the studios. He has worked as a consultant in industrial noise and vibration control as well as studio and private screening room design. He holds several patents for ultra-wide dispersion high-frequency waveguides and is currently a consultant for consumer loudspeaker products.
