Where to Audition Highly Efficient speakers like Z...
Author Last Post

a couple other options to consider:

-- set some recurring searches for Zu or Klipsch within 100 miles on US Audio Mart and Audiogon. When it comes to auditions, there's no substitute for hearing it in your own room and system (and resale might end up cheaper than Zu's return fee?);

-- have you heard any Quad electrostatic speakers? FWIW, I find them to be among the most rewarding at low levels (in the sweet spot) and they play well with lower power amps (tho perhaps not flea-watt amps).

If I still had my Zu DWs, I would have loaned them to you!

Is there a particular reason you want to couple low playback volumes with a highly efficient speaker? Like you want to only use a tube amp that runs a few watts?

I'm sure you've already looked into where you audition Klipsch and are aware of Zu's trial policy. Another brand I might recommend is Avantgarde as an efficient horn speaker option, but I don't think there's anywhere to listen to them without flying.

Hi There,

Been running Wilson Sophia 3's for many years and while still enjoying them I am interested in seeing if highly efficient speakers like Zu and Klipsch would fit my needs better ow that I need to play music at a lower volume. Looking for suggestions!

Thank you

Arleigh
