Simple, featureless, well-made power strip?
Author Last Post

Thanks for all the suggestions, everyone! After searching around the house, I found that I already have the exact Wiremold strip that I mentioned in this thread. Turns out, I've had this question before and just forgot I solved it (the strip was handling mundane desk tuties). The plug orientation isn't a problem, as I only need 6 outlets, so even if a few are blocked by wall warts, that'll be fine.

I ask because something like Item # MD-2000-U, 8.74 Inch (in) Length Medical Grade Isolation Power Transformer On Triad Magnetics could serve a dual purpose for audio components. At least one of my units has mild mechanical hum. The improvement in sound quality can be substantial.

Ah, here's the version I purchased with a polished top.

Prices have gone up...

Also available in black, and 4, 6, or 8 outlet versions :-)

Ah, for wallwarts I use the little 6” extension cords. I have wallwarts that are oriented various ways, including sideways so they would block adjacent plugs in the orientation you are proposing as a solution here. The mini extension cords are cheap- do an Amazon search- and are available in various gauges and lengths.

What all are you plugging into it?

Fred, Regardless of the brand you buy, if you are going with a single plug inline power strip like the Wiremold, I'd recommend against it, and suggest looking for something with plugs oriented in this direction

because if you have a device or devices that require a wall wart, you will likely lose the use of the adjacent socket. This would be true of double socket outlets as well.

BTW... I'm not recommending the Gator Rackworks, I'm just showing you an example of the socket orientation. Just a thought.

Wow. that looks like a lot of money ($149), to me, for something so basic.

You could also consider one of these on eBay https://tinyurl.com/3m2whdw3 for much less money. I purchased a couple like this, years ago, in polished aluminum- but no longer see those offered when I did a quick search. You could easily source some nice outlets to populate one of these and then use your own cord too.

Cheers,

David

Thanks, Todd! Right now my goal is to avoid spending Shunyata money on this (which will be connected to a Shunyata Everest, so that'll handle the filtration/isolation/protection duties).

A bit more research turned up this Wiremold L10320 strip, which seems exactly the ticket (no switches, protection, breakers) and is celebrated by the Naim/Linn crew:

I have a Shunyata Venom PS8 with Venom Defender and Venom HC power cord for sale. If you are interested in purchasing used then you could get high quality at a much more affordable price. All three components are in "as new" shape. Let me know if you have interest and I'll work out what I'd be willing to sell them for.

I'm looking for a simple power strip, ideally with 8 outlets. No switch, no circuit breaker, no protection circuits, just something with decent gauge wire and quality recepticles. Essentially like the Shunyata Venom PS series, but without the audiophile price tag. :-)

Any ideas?
